I love photographing people who aren't afraid to try different poses I suggest and they want photos that are unique. Working with musicians or visual artists is so much fun becuase of their input and willingness to go with the flow of the photoshoot. With this photoshoot, I wanted to challenge myself to try a few new techniques. The first photo is a classic black and white that I'm obsessed with. The next photo, I had the subject lay on the ground while I stood on a stool trying to get a unique angle and capture unique floor tiles. For the third, I found a spotlight that has different colored lenses and we found an old walk in freezer that was really dark. For the next photo, I had an old projector and an old camcorder laying around that I put together. I found that if you point the camera at the projector while connected you get repetative imagery. For the next photo, I opened the shutter speed for fifteen seconds and had the subject gradually move every few seconds, I really like the ghostly feel to this one. The next photo, in the words of Bob Ross was a "happy accident". We took so long taking photos in doors that it was getting dark and the sky turned a beautiful blue to pink gradient. The next photos are close ups of the subject while sitting on a hay bail and the angles are unique to how I usually angle portraits. They are more looking up to the subject. For this very last photo, I used an old speedlight from the 80s that my dad used to use. I had never really done a lot of flash photography. I noticed in magazines and other musician photos that they used overexposed flash looks so I wanted to give that a try. I really like the feel of the old wood paneling and the wood grain on guitar and I think the flash gives it a crisp look too. I learned so much from this photoshoot and I can't wait to learn even more new creative photography techniques! Thanks for checking out my blog!
