On New Year's Eve we were determined to get out of the house and do something. We saw that there were a few concerts going on in Athens and we decided to check out the 40 Watt Club. I had been to the 40 Watt about two years ago and we saw a really small band. This time around, the band Yip Deceiver was playing(the first set of photos). Their set was energetic, upbeat, and it made the whole crowd start to nodd there head along. I love when you can see a band that you don't know any of their songs but you still end up tapping your foot along. The whole crowd was there for of Montreal, a more popular band native to Athens. The lead singer has a stage presence that is undescribable. You can tell that he really enjoys what he does and the crowd sang every word to all of their songs. of Montreal was so much fun to photograph and there was never a dull moment! They stopped playing to count down to the New Year, shot off confetti canons, and continued to play. This concert was a great way to start off 2017 which I hope will be filled with more weird concerts and photos! See you soon with another blog post!

In December, I took a break from studying for finals, making millions of mugs in the pottery studio, and carving linolium to see the band, Mothers, at the Caledonia Lounge. I learned that the lead singer majored in Printmaking at UGA and I was taking my first printmaking class at UGA at the time. It's so cool to see someone who used to be working in the same classroom as me up on a stage creating something that is bringing a whole room of people together. People were swaying and singing along to her art. It's so inspiring to me and I always find it interesting when someone does multiple creative things. I love to look at their work and see how they are connected. This band has found a way to beautifully describe some of the sadness and truths of life in an intersting way. I really enjoyed their set and photographing them. It was hard to move around and get different shots in the Caledonia Lounge because the room was so full but I managed to get a few great shots. I hope you enjoy these photos and I'll be posting some more concert photos soon!
